First Time Dog Owners

Is this a good breed for first time dog owners? 
In a word, maybe! These are delightful dogs, good with families, and very adaptable. Any puppy requires effort and commitment from the owner, if a person is not willing to make this small commitment then they should not have a puppy.

Dog ownership, in general, should not be entered into lightly and this breed is no exception. Take time to do your research and discuss the responsibilities with all the family members.

Are Wheatens indoor or outdoor dogs?
Although Softies were originally developed as farm dogs, they do best when housed indoors and treated as one of the family. These are people dogs and will always want to be where the family is. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers will not do as well in outside kenneling situations so most breeders recommend that they sleep indoors.
